At the Taxi Commission
The
Taxi Commission meets the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at
6:30 p.m., in room 400 of City Hall. Special meetings may be scheduled
as needed. The following is a summary of significant commission proceedings
at recent meetings:
August
14
The commission heard a presentation on cab stickers containing the city’s
new 311 customer service number.
It approved rules for exterior markings on cabs, allowing for a company
slogan to be placed on the vehicle.
It discussed membership for working groups on clean air cabs and taxi
rules changes.
August
28
The commission approved placing stickers in cabs with the city’s
311 customer service number.
It held a closed session to discuss several pending legal cases, including
UTW’s lawsuit against Yellow, Luxor and Arrow for gate overcharges.
It held a discussion on road sharing with bicycles.
It approved a Resolution creating a Clean Taxi Working Group.
September 11
The commission adopted a design for a 311 customer service sticker for
taxis.
Deputy Director Jordanna Thigpen gave a report on color scheme and medallion
holder audits.
It approved a Resolution supporting the Blue Angels and Fleet Week.

25
A subcommittee of the commission met to nominate members to a working
group which will discuss changes to Proposition K.
The commission heard a presentation from consultant Hansu Kim on the
paratransit debit card program.
Sgt. Ron Reynolds of the Taxi Detail announced that District Attorney
Kamala Harris has begun a criminal prosecution a of limo driver for
illegal activities.

The commission held a public convenience and necessity (pc&n) hearing
to discuss the feasibility of peak-time medallions.
It adopted the recommendations of the Charter Reform Selection Committee
for membership on its Working Group.
